Description

This in-depth, video-packed course starts by covering the benefits of growing your own herbs, how herb gardening differs from vegetable or flower gardening, what tools are actually useful, and how to think about your own space and growing style.

You’ll learn how to start plants from seed and how to tend young plants as they grow. You’ll also find helpful lessons about watering, feeding, and troubleshooting when things don’t go as expected, such as when disease or pests become an issue. The course also covers how and when to harvest herbs from your garden, along with ways to dry and process them so you can use what you grow in your kitchen and home apothecary.

In addition, throughout the course you’ll find individual profiles for 53 common garden herbs with detailed information specific to each plant, and a gardener-led spotlight video for many of these plants.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to herb gardening.

You’ll see container gardens, cottage gardens, permaculture-style gardens, shaded and forested spaces, and examples of small-scale production, to name a few. This makes it easier to imagine how you can start successfully growing herbs where you live, even if your growing space is limited or unconventional.

By the end of The Herbal Gardening Course, you’ll feel more confident growing and caring for herbs as the seasons change. You’ll have a better sense of how to make decisions in your own garden, from early planning to recognizing when a plant is ready to harvest.

UPGRADE YOUR ENROLLMENT WITH THE GARDEN PLANNER AND SEED SET

Upgrade your enrollment to include the beautifully illustrated, printed Herbal Academy Garden Planner, custom-made by our team to help you plan and keep records in your garden. The planner gives you space to sketch ideas and keep notes on planting and harvests, so you can look back and learn from your experiences each year. (Will begin shipping in mid-March.)

You can also upgrade your enrollment to include our brand new Garden Herbs Seed Set, which includes organic seeds for eight of our favorite herbs from our friends at Strictly Medicinal Seeds: echinacea, lemon balm, thyme, motherwort, tulsi, catnip, chamomile, and calendula. These easy-to-grow herbs attract pollinators and provide generous harvests for both the kitchen and the home apothecary.
