Biography

Combining her passion for education and love of nature, Christie has enjoyed decades of work in various roles at greenhouses, nurseries, garden shops, and parks. Taking many courses and workshops with Herbal Academy and other herbalists has broadened and deepened her knowledge as she continues to build connections with people and plants. Through her volunteer work at a local botanical garden, she manages the upkeep of the herb garden, guides visitors, and assists with new projects. As an artist, Christie seeks to incorporate natural elements in her pieces, whether by sketching a newly fallen leaf, dyeing with walnut hulls, or using dried herbs in her wool sculptures. She appreciates how social media can serve as a means of connection and education across all levels and cultures. Being an active member and moderator of MyHerbalStudies through Herbal Academy, she has the honor of learning and sharing, as well as supporting others on the herbalism path. Christie is a proud wife of a firefighter for over 30 years, and is an active supportive role model for spouses of first responders, both locally and nationally. Most days you can find her wandering nature preserves, tending plants, or brewing up a pot of tea for the next adventure with her husband and dog.
