Biography

Anna Booth Cohen has dedicated herself to the service of all beings through strengthening the connection between humans and plants and promoting wellness.
Anna began her herbal journey in 2010 when she was diagnosed with Lyme disease and decided to bring her system back into balance with an herbal approach. This gave her the opportunity to witness firsthand the transformative power of plants and the incredible capacity of the human body. Her progress provided inspiration to learn the ways of the herbalist and to build her skill set so that she could help others.
Anna graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science after studying agricultural and herbal science. She began growing herbs in her garden and worked with beneficial plants as an intern in the gardens at the Fertile Ground Guesthouse in Olympia, WA. After graduating, Anna took a ten month herbal foundations course at the Ohlone Herbal Center in Berkeley CA. Anna learned from established herbalists Kara Sigler, Madeleina Boulduc, and Tony Siefert how to identify constitutional imbalances in body systems and match clients with the herbs their bodies need. She also learned about supporting health through nutrition from nutritionist Sarah Bearden and studied the use of beneficial mushrooms with Terri Jensen and Karen Aquair.
In the summer of 2013, Anna moved to Boston, MA to earn her Master of Education degree from Lesley University. During this time, she participated in the 2013-2014 Seeing with your Heart Immersion Program led by Dan Booth Cohen and Emily Volden where she learned about working with consciousness to facilitate transformation and to use her heart as a powerful intuitive guide. She completed an advanced clinical training program at the Boston School of Herbal Studies with Madelon Hope and Tommy Priester in the spring of 2015. In December of 2016, Anna completed a three year apprenticeship program with herbalist Sage L. Maurer at the Gaia School of Healing and Earth Education where she studied herbal practices, plant spirit work, and traditional folk uses of herbs. In 2018, Anna enrolled in Tammi Sweet's Anatomy & Physiology: An Herbalist's Guide to the Body program.
Anna has served as adjunct faculty in the Seeing With your Heart Immersion Program since 2015 with Dan Booth Cohen and Emily Volden where offered her herbal knowledge as an intrinsic part of the program. In 2017, Anna co-created and co-facilitated Wild Craft Uprising, a four-weekend herbal education and experience program. She began her collaboration with Desire Catalyst Elise Bish, Earth Eros Embodied, in 2018.
Anna works as an educator and is happiest while connecting humans, nature, and spirit. She launched her herbal practice, Flowering Thistle Herbalism, in 2015. In 2019, Flowering Thistle Herbalism officially evolved into Herbalist Uprising. Thank you for being part of this work!
