7Song has been studying plants, people, and herbal medicine for over 30 years now. His interest began with a fascination with the natural world (especially reptiles and amphibians). In his twenties, he began studying herbal medicine’s many aspects, including plant identification, the medicinal properties of plants, human physiology, medicine making, wildcrafting, and clinical work. He attended the California School of Herbal Studies with Rosemary Gladstar in 1983 and later taught botany and studies at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine with Michael Moore in 1994 and 1995.
He currently teaches at many schools and conferences throughout the United States and internationally, which gives him the opportunity to continue learning and being a part of this transmission of herbal information
He sees being an herbalist partly as a way to reach out to disenfranchised communities with fewer resources and support. One of the services he has helped facilitate in his community is the Ithaca Free Clinic, of which he is the Director of Holistic Medicine at the Ithaca Free Clinic, and also an herbal practitioner. This is part of his goal to work towards am integrative model of health care. For more about the Ithaca Free Clinic, please see: http://7song.com/ithaca-free-clinic/
