4 Ounce Packaged Organic Calendula Flowers

$8.50

We’re sharing our surplus of organic calendula flowers, packaged ever-so-sweetly with care in 4 ounce packaged baggies. For use in infused vinegars, herbal tea, tincture, infused oil, salves, lotions and a myriad of other skin care products, calendula is a staple herbal ally for the home apothecary.

Botanical Description:

Sunny, joyous Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is a powerful wound and tissue healer (vulnerary) both externally and internally. It has long been used to soothe and heal cuts, burns, bites, sprains, bruises, rashes, sunburns, and abrasions due to its antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, and tissue-healing actions. While Calendula is warming and slightly drying, it also has a demulcency that soothes inflamed tissues. Its anti-inflammatory action makes Calendula a helpful ally for inflammatory conditions of the digestive tract, and its slightly bitter taste supports healthy digestion by stimulating the liver and gallbladder to secrete digestive enzymes, aiding the digestive process and improving absorption.

Calendula acts as an immune stimulant as well as being antibacterial and antiviral, so it’s ideal when colds, flu, and other infections take hold. Calendula is also a lymphagogue, cleansing the lymph system by moving clogged lymph fluid, removing toxins from the lymph, and decongesting swollen lymph nodes to keep the immune system strong.

Actions: Vulnerary, Anti-inflammatory, Antibacterial, Immune Stimulant, Anti-fungal, Antiviral, Cholagogue, Diaphoretic, Lymphatic, Antispasmodic, Emmenagogue

Disclaimer: some people allergic to plants in the Asteraceae family may be sensitive to calendula. Calendula should be avoided in pregnancy.
