Working The Roots presents both culturally informed and connected information about traditional African-American healing from primary sources and clear instructions for using a wide variety of herbs. Twenty-one narrative-rich interviews are followed by a section on approaches to common ailments, and finally an extensive materia medica of around 150 plants and their uses from African American and Native American traditions.
