Biography
Selima Harleston Lust is a Lead Herbalist Educator at Herbal Academy, where she contributes to our extensive course catalog, which features dozens of online herbalism courses for all skill levels.
A clinical herbalist, medical astrologer, spiritual teacher, and co-founder of Iwilla Remedy, Selima is passionate about helping people travel the most graceful path from ill to well with a holistic approach that bridges mind, body, and spirit.
Selima’s work centers on empowering individuals to reclaim their health and personal power, particularly after trauma. Selima offers a variety of products, workshops, and content that helps adults restore their health from the inside out. Through Iwilla Remedy's signature online mentorship program, Herbal Medicine for the Soul, she teaches adults how to support their health while addressing the emotional root cause of pain.
Selima has contributed both written and video content to Herbal Academy courses, including powerful additions to the Holistic Herbal Care for Kids Course and the 6-week Bitters Course Kick-off Series. Selima also represents Herbal Academy at events nationwide, including our inaugural Virtual Herbalism Conference, where she made a lasting impact with her presentation: “Soul Medicine: Herbs for Complex Trauma.”
In addition to her work with the Herbal Academy, Selima is also a professor at Spelman College where she teaches African American Herbalism programs. In both of these roles, she enjoys nurturing future healers with a blend of academic insight and practical application.
Selima has been invited as a featured speaker to numerous institutions, including the University of Louisville, Black Urban Growers, Sex Down South, and The Friends School of Atlanta, as well as key herbal conferences, including Herbal Academy’s Virtual Herbalism Conference, NYC Spiritual Herbalism Conference, BIPOC Herbalism Conference, and Herbal Entrepreneur Conference. Her expertise has been featured across a wide range of renowned publications, including Yoga Journal, Mother Earth Living, Refinery29, XONecole, Well + Good, and Architectural Digest.
A proud graduate of Spelman College (BA) and Teachers College, Columbia University (MA), Selima also served in the Peace Corps, further enriching her holistic perspective on healing. She continues to expand her knowledge through ongoing mentorship under physicians, seasoned holistic practitioners, and advanced graduate-level coursework, ensuring that her approach remains at the cutting edge of herbal and integrative care.
