Biography

Sarah Shaw is a Vermont transplant, originating from the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Vermont with a BA in Global Studies, Community Development, and Food Systems, and has received two Permaculture Design Certifications. Sarah graduated from the Vermont Center of Integrative Herbalism’s (VCIH) rigorous 3 year Clinical Herbalist program in 2020. In 2021, Sarah opened her own sliding scale herb clinic and apothecary, Humble Hummingbird, and offers 1:1 herbal consultations, custom formulations, and stewards a community herbal program that offers low-no cost services to BIPOC and low-income individuals. In 2018, Sarah co-founded Hillside Botanicals, a certified organic and Bee Friendly Farming certified medicinal herb and hemp farm in Central Vermont. In addition to managing farm operations, she formulates a variety of farm-direct herbal wellness and CBD products. Sarah is an active member of the Vermont Chapter of Herbalists Without Borders, and sees herbal care as one of the most potent ways to be in solidarity to people and planet.
