Biography

Catie came to find herbal medicine as her true life calling only after her undergraduate studies and work in cultural anthropology and environmental studies and her graduate work, specializing in food and garden-based, sustainability education. Her love for global adventures brought her to live and learn in many unique communities around the world. Whether through her work in ecological education, ethnographic studies and travels or simply through her own deep connection with the natural world, she has always sought to understand the unique connection people have with plants, particularly medicinal plants. In 2008, upon the completion of her graduate program in Education, she made her way to Colorado to study with Paul Bergner for two years at the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism and has been joyfully traveling the road of herbal medicine ever since.
In addition to her ongoing personal studies in the fields of medical herbalism and nutrition, in 2018, she completed a nine-month Integrative and Functional Medicine Professional Training Program through the New Medicine for Women Institute with Aviva Romm, M.D. She is a current student at the University of Western States, earning a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine and looks forward to enhancing her practice with a new depth of knowledge.
Catie was one of the founding herbalists at HAALo (Health Alternatives for All Locals), a community apothecary in Nevada City, California, where she worked for six years as a clinical herbalist, helping many people with a wide array of health issues. These years were a pivotal part of her continuing education and integration into the community. In 2011 she founded an herbal electuary business, Harvesting Vitality.
As a certified clinical herbalist and clinical nutrition consultant with a decade of practice, education and training in medical herbalism and functional nutrition, Catie offers healing support and guidance for the whole person and for a wide variety of health conditions. She maintained a small practice in Nevada City, California since 2010 and is now based in Hardwick, Vermont.
Catie works as a team member in the Course Development Department and has recently relocated back to Vermont with her family. She loves outdoor adventures, traveling, cooking, gardening, writing and playing with her two children.
