Abril Donea is a passionate farmer, herbalist, and herbal educator who travels the world exploring ancestral herbal medicine through the lens of herbal anthropology. Her journeys take her deep into Indigenous traditions, where she connects with healers to learn, preserve, and share sacred herbal knowledge.
As the visionary behind Beauty Herbs & Tea, Abril hosts Indigenous medicine retreats and offers courses on herbal medicine, herbal teas, and starting herb-based businesses, all while helping participants deepen their understanding of ancestral herbal traditions. By blending her entrepreneurial expertise with her dedication to cultural preservation, Abril empowers others to create sustainable livelihoods rooted in traditional healing practices and ancestral wisdom.
Abril’s passion for community and accessibility inspired her to create the BIPOC Herbalism Conference, an annual event that brings together thousands to celebrate the wisdom of BIPOC herbalists and explore Indigenous medicine from cultures worldwide. The conference provides a unique opportunity for attendees to learn directly from Indigenous teachers from over 15 different Indigenous countries globally. Abril also founded the BIPOC Community School, offering affordable and accessible education where students can study Indigenous medicine under the guidance of Indigenous instructors, furthering her mission to make ancestral knowledge more accessible to all.
On her 87-acre farm in Georgia, Abril continues to expand her impact by hosting in-person herbalism retreats and classes, cultivating spaces where sustainability and ancestral knowledge thrive. Through her work, Abril uplifts Indigenous medicine, fosters holistic well-being, and inspires others to embrace self-sustainability and their ancestral roots.
